The Australian Cardijn Institute (ACI) is delighted to announce the upcoming blessing and official opening of the Joseph Cardijn Library, to be held on:

This new library, named in honour of Joseph Cardijn, founder of the Young Christian Workers (YCW) movement, will serve as a vital resource for lay formation and theological reflection. It houses a significant collection of books—many from the personal library of Dr Stefan Gigacz, Secretary of ACI—focused on Catholic social teaching, lay apostolate, and the See–Judge–Act method.
The Joseph Cardijn Library is being established as a company limited by guarantee and is in the process of obtaining Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status, which will enable it to receive tax-deductible donations. This will support the development of both its physical and digital collections.
Importantly, the library will also serve as a hub for outreach and formation, with volunteers—especially former YCW and YCS members—invited to design and deliver parish-based programs using the See–Judge–Act method. These initiatives will focus particularly on the “Judge” dimension, encouraging lay people to explore theological themes such as the meaning of being created in God’s image.
The vision is to equip lay people with the confidence and skills to articulate their faith and engage meaningfully in the life of the Church and society.
